When your favorite friend/photographer offers the chance to shoot the lead fashion story in Art Basel issue of Ocean Drive magazine, you say yes.  There’s a family support system in place that allows me to occasionally run away and do the work that makes me so happy.  I’m so grateful for that — and that my husband understands my need to create things outside the home. GRATEFUL!
So it was that I ended up in Miami for a week creating this editorial with photographer David Drebin.

The creative direction for the shoot was to showcase current Resort fashion as well as the interior and architectural designs of some beautiful multi-million dollar residences being built all around Miami.  The clothes had to work with these distinct interiors as well as speak to the “Miami style” of glitzy resort dressing.  Those elements, mixed with Drebin’s cinematic style of photography meant that the clothes couldn’t be fashion forward.  Rather they needed to “pop” off the image and highlight the woman (usually a tortured vixen character).

Luckily, there were a lot of fun clothes that worked for Miami — we got to use Roberto Cavalli, Versace… really classic gorgeous gowns and jewels.  Glamour!   This amazing Versace editorial styled by Lori Goldstein was a great inspiration.
